Tentative Schedule for a Capital Campaign

 

NOTE:  The following schedule is based on conversations with the leadership during the Assessment Visit on November 21-23, 2003.  The number of consulting days is based on experience with other Unitarian Universalist congregations; the total for the whole project is estimated at 14.0 days.

12/15/03              Board appoints Strategic Planning Steering Committee. 

 

1/30-2/1/04    Consultant conducts Searching for the Future Workshop to develop draft vision and mission statement and list of tentative goals for next 3-5 years.  (2.25 days)

 

3/1/04             Congregation votes on proposed Vision and Mission Statement to guide preparation of strategic plan.

 

4/15/04           Strategic Planning Committee presents draft strategic plan to congregation for discussion and comment. 

                        Building Expansion Committee begins process for validating space requirements for presentation to congregation.

 

5/16/04           Congregation votes on proposed Strategic Plan, validated space requirements, and authority for the Board to hire an architect to develop preliminary plans and cost estimates.

                        Board appoints Building Design Committee and Capital Campaign Steering Committee (CCSC).

 

5/22-24/04     Consultant visit to meet with CCSC to begin planning for capital campaign including schedule, education and publicity, and feasibility study.  (1.5 days)

 

9/12/04           Congregation votes on preliminary design and cost estimates.

 

9/17-19/04     Consultant visit to help select persons for feasibility study interviews and to review progress on capital campaign planning (1.5 days)

 

10/20-24/04   Consultant conducts interviews for feasibility study and prepared written report.  (6.0 days)

 

10/31/03         Consultant submits written report on feasibility study that includes a summary of findings and recommendations that is to be mailed to all voting members of the Church.

 

11/14/04            Congregation votes whether to authorize a capital campaign and its goal.

 

1/21-23/05            Consultant visit to train canvassers.  (1.5 days)

 

1/22/03            Campaign Kickoff event.

 

1/23-2/12/05            Capital campaign canvass.

 

2/18-19/05            Consultant visit to evaluate campaign and set next steps.  (1.25 days)

 

2/27/05           Congregation votes on whether to proceed to final drawings and construction.
