Strategic Planning Committee
(SPC)
Membership: Five Tenure: December 2003 through May 2004; annual review
· Assess the program needs for the next five years.
· Develop database on membership, worship attendance, religious education enrollment and attendance, pledge units, and other data.
· Prepare a membership development plan for the recruitment and integration of new members and the retention of existing members.
· Prepare draft forecasts of expenses and revenues for five-year period.
· Coordinate draft plan with the committees and the staff of the church.
· Present strategic operating plan to the Board for approval.
· Maintain the strategic plan by updating annually.
Building Expansion Committee
(BAC)
Membership: Five Tenure: April through May 2004
· Gather data on potential building projects and other capital investments from members, committees and the staff and the strategic plan
· Hold open meetings to gather additional ideas to validate findings.
· Prepare Program Statement to be adopted by congregation and serve as basis for the work of the architect.
· Recommend architect to Board to develop preliminary plans and cost estimates.
Building Design Committee
(BDC)
Membership: Five Tenure: May through October 2004
· Work with architect to develop preliminary drawings and cost estimates for the Program Statement.
· Involve congregation in reviewing design alternatives.
Capital Campaign Steering Committee
(CCSC)
Membership: Six Tenure: May 2004 through February 2005
· Develop publicity and education plan.
· Select persons to be interviewed for the feasibility study.
· Develop brochures for campaign.
· Plan Kickoff Event.
· Organize face-to-face canvass.
· Establish record keeping and billing system for CFD pledges.
Membership: Five Tenure: March 2005 to completion
· Work with architect on final plans and construction drawings.
· Evaluate and recommend contractor(s) to the Board.
· Develop phasing for the building project, if necessary.
· Oversee the construction.
NOTES:
1. For purposes of continuity, it is a good idea to have at least one member of the Building Design Committee serve on the Building Committee.
2. Members should be selected with several factors in mind:
· Representation from major groups in the Church.
· Persons recognized as leaders in the congregation.
· Special skills needed on the committee.
· To the extent possible, a balance on males and females, long term and newer members, and similar factors.
