Rev. Dr. Kathleen A. Bishop

Guest Minister

Rev Kathy visits our pulpit one or twice each year, so we include information here for those who would want to know more about her.

Rev Kathy began her religious studies at Unity Church in Fort Lauderdale and then went to Unity Village outside of Kansas City, Missouri where she studied for four years to become a Licensed Unity Teacher. Next, she studied at the Florida Religious Studies Institute in Fort Lauderdale and graduated with a dual doctorate degree in Pastoral Management and Theology. She is also a practitioner of Zen Buddhism and sits with the Southern Palm Zen Group that meets at the UU Church of Boca Raton.

Kathy earned her BA in English Literature from Stockton State College in New Jersey where her senior thesis was entitled “Liberation and Feminism in the Women of Tolstoy.” She earned her masters in health administration from Century University in Albuquerque, NM, where her master’s thesis was on “Medical Records in a Community Healthcare Setting.” Her Ph.D. is in pastoral management and theology from Florida Religious Studies Institute in Fort Lauderdale. Her theology dissertation was entitled “Women Who Walk with God: The Hidden History of Women in Christianity.” Her dissertation in pastoral management was a series of trainings based on necessary life skills for people in addictions treatment. It was done in conjunction with Broward Alcohol Rehabilitation Center and Broward Community College’s Center for Business and Industry.

Kathy has been a professional speaker, teacher, and trainer for 20 years. She has worked as adjunct faculty for Palm Beach Community College, Broward Community College, Florida International University, and Florida Atlantic University. Some of her clients are Florida Power & Light, BellSouth, Marriott Hotels, State Farm Insurance, Ernst & Young (Madrid, Spain) and the Caribbean Chamber of Commerce among many. She has also worked for numerous city, state, and federal governments and government agencies.
