Welcome to the Long Range Plan for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Lauderdale.

The bricks and mortar that make up the building located at 3970 NW 21st Avenue, Oakland Park, Florida is a remarkable home for our community. As you will see by reading this instrument of our hopes and dreams, we not only know where we are and where we have been, but we also have dreams for where we want to go.

Any community that strives to reach its fullest potential, must have a shared vision of its future. Within this document you will find this vision for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Lauderdale. The long and short-term goals outlined are designed to show where we want to be in five years and the road map to help get us there.

This plan is the result of many hours of intense work by members of the Long Range Planning Committee, the leaders of our congregation, and by all who participated in the focus groups and filled out a survey. The process itself was a great education for all of us. We learned that we have a very unique, talented and diverse congregation. We realized how tough it was to create a plan like this. In the process we discovered how invigorating and even fun it can be to look into the future. Congratulations to all who helped make this new beginning possible.

This Long Range Plan is designed to be a living document, which means the pages you hold are not a final product. Rather, this is a document that will evolve and change with our community and we will evaluate and revise it as needed, to match our visions and reality.

This plan is a reflection of our congregation’s wisdom and a testament to our ability to be forward thinkers. We hope it will serve as a beacon, to navigate our direction and discover what the future holds in store for our religious community.
