During the month of May we have a number of major events lined up that need and deserve the support and attendance of every single one of you. We always have so much going on at this church that it can be quite overwhelming at times. Many of our events seem to appeal to and attract only a small segment of our community. Coming up this month, however, we have a series of events that I feel strongly are the very key to our continued prosperity as a community. I want to issue a personal plea for every one of you who will be in town in May to get behind each of these activities. These events are: 1. The Postal Carrier Drive- May 11- Working in two afternoon shifts at the Inverrary post office, we have the chance to take part in a miracle. We will be responsible for sorting and boxing groceries donated through the postal carrier drive. This food will keep the pantry shelves at the Cooperative Feeding Program full for several months. Sara Keeley and Lenny Mujica will be asking for your help. Please give it to them. 2. The Empty Bowl Dinner- May 16 at 5:00 p.m -7:00 pm - Come and help, come and buy as many bowls as you can, come and eat, come and enjoy fellowship with each other and help make our guests from other congregations feel at home. We need to sell about 300 bowls of soup. Don't miss it for the world. 3. Spring Fest - May 18 10:00 am to 6:00 pm - Sponsored by the Young Minds in Fellowship group, this is designed to be a day of fun, food, fellowship and entertainment for the whole family and all your friends. Our younger members, who are our future, have worked very hard this year bonding with each other and planning for this event. It is a place for families, couples and singles, the elders and the children to laugh, play and celebrate life together. Please come and join in this classic all church event. 4. Religious Education Sunday and Religious Education Summit - May 19 - Sunday Service Time and After. Come and celebrate our children and those who teach and take care of them. Hear Rev. Gail preach on Religious Education and then have lunch and attend the R.E. Summit to hear Rev. Gail and Rev. Harris Riordan of the UU Fellowship of Boca Raton talk about hot issues in UU R.E. and how we can enhance our already fine program. Adult Religious Education will be discussed also. Please just make the dates from May 11 through May 19th Unitarian Universalist Week and help us end this program year with a bang. It has been a great year in a difficult time. Let's celebrate our accomplishments together and plan for even greater things next year. Blessings on our journey. |
