Press releases used to be faxed. Now they are received by email. Avoid cute letterhead graphics in emails.
News media typically want to receive press releases 3 to 4 weeks prior to your event. They get buried in correspondence and thus tend not to save press releases. Reporters want you to make their job easier, not more difficult.
