The Rev Dr. Stephan Papa was called to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Lauderdale in June of 1978. He came to a congregation ready to grow. Younger people joined and the average age fell. A few members remain from Stephan's time: Debbi Holt, Noralee Traylor, Betty Kerns, Susan McAlpern nee Mahar, Marty McAnulty, Dot Muise, and Kip & Kristine Barkley.

There was a lively singles scene, trips to SUUSI and SWIM, and Social Action gatherings. The stories of the time continue to grow, and those that were there wish they had done more of what they are credited with

It was here that Stephan met Patty Prevost. She walked in the door and Stephan saw her. They were a number before anyone else realized.

In 1982, Stephan and Patty moved on to First Universalist in Denver, Colorado. It was there that daughter Alexandra was born. Now Stephan and Patty are at Main Line Unitarian Church in Devon, Pennsylvania. Patty is active in Public Radio.

Sunday March 26, 2006, Stephan was our guest pastor and his sermon topic was Busy Being Born.
